Computer Programming

The magic of a computer lies in its ability to become almost anything you can imagine, as long

as you can explain exactly what that is. The world is changing and technology is evolving,

people create new inventions that will make the world a better place. Each piece of technology is

being commanded to do something to make life a bit easier. The thing that is making technology

work is something called computer programming. With computer programming a programmer

can do a lot of things such as telling a robot what to do, make video games, create different

sounds for music, and even make a work of art using different types of programming languages.

Computer programming shows creativity, it changes everyday life, and can help with

education.

Writing good programs requires creativity (Lerner 200). Creativity is a big part of computer

programming, a programmer must think of what he must do using his creativity skills and the

stuff he learned from a high school or a college. Creativity is shown throughout programming

with apps, games, websites, etc. To be creative is hard, many people believe that they arent

creative but that is not true, everybody is creative. Everybody has thought of something that they

always wanted to do or make like a song or a painting. Something that gives them joy, by

thinking of something that makes a person creative. With computer programming a person can

exercise their creativity by creating something that they have an interest in. Anyone can learn

programming its easy and fun but the challenging part of it is being creative.

Programming has transformed the way we live, work, learn, play and communicate (Kalil 1).

Everyday people use their phones or a computer for a certain reason like messaging a friend,

making phone calls for work, using facebook, emailing a co-worker, and even watching a video

on youtube. All of that wouldn't be possible if it wasnt for programming. If programming did

not exist our lives would be different, there wouldn't be technology that we have as of right now.

Computer programming is changing the world, people out their are designing artificial limbs,

developing algorithms for self driving cars, analyzing medical data to develop more effective

treatments, or creating multimedia art (Kalil 1). Just about anything you can think of is possible

with the power of programming.

As a computer programmer, a person can learn new skills that will help them throughout their

years of school. Computer programming can help somebody learn more mathematics, enhance

their thinking , and improve their language arts skills. If used in such reflective ways, computer

programming can aid growth in arithmetic skills (Clements 1). Programming can help improve

someone's mathematical skills because as a programmer they work a lot with numbers, for

example a game programmer wants to put a skyscraper in his game, he has to figure out the

length and width of the building using his mathematical skills he learned from school. Another

benefit of computer programming is that a programmer enhances their thinking. When a

programmer enhances their thinking they become better problem solvers. A computer

programmer will run into problems when working with different programming languages, they

have to think and use their problem solving skills to fix the dilemma. It may be surprising to

some that results are also generally positive for computer programmings effect on language arts

( Clements 1). If a teacher teaches computer programming in elementary the kids will become

more smarter and that will help them in the future in middle school, high school, and college. As

the kids keep learning programming they improve their visual motor skills, memory, and they

enhance their reading skills because theyre learning different programming languages such as

javascript, python, ruby, and C++.

According to Donald E. Knuth, computer programming can be compared to an art form like the

creation of music or poetry ( Leal 1). Computer programmers are really passionate of what they

do they have been learning how to write code with different programming languages since

college. They want to show the world what they can create with their programming skills. Today

we use technology like smartphones and computers to program different things like, self driving

cars, video games, and make algorithms for medical purposes to make the world a bit better. The

world is changing and technology is evolving, people create new inventions that will make life a

bit easier. Computer Programming shows a person's creativity, it changes everyday life, and can

help with education.
