Help students get a basic understanding of how to write a food review,
including vocabulary and sentence patterns
Enable students to organize structure in writing and become conscious
of features of written style
Encourage students to read more materials outside class and be more
interested in writing in social interaction

Teaching procedures:
1. Topic lead-in: How to discover local restaurants?
Teacher asks students how do they find local cuisines in Hong Kong and
then introduce Openrice app to the whole class.
Oral report and summary: teacher asks students to present their opinions and
write down their answers on a piece of paper. Share the notes with other
group. Plus, the teacher will summarize the main aspects on whiteboard and
add other elements that students may not mention.
3. Can you write a short paragraph on one of the aspects
In-class task: Since students now understand the basic element of a food
review,
the teacher will ask each group to be responsible for one dimension (location,
dish style, taste, service and so on).

When finished, every group will share with each other and the teacher will
give feedback.
