Jon Labrador Now handles the engineering and process management within
Conformity Assessment (This also entails BCA Staff Secretary and manages the staff
interaction with Conformity Assessment Committees.)

Paul Lang Now handles the Operations and Audit & Inspections within Conformity
Assessment.

Assessment Activities.

Action Item
Establish guidelines for recommending a BPV Re- Review. The ASME Conformity
Assessment Staff will review the CNC guidelines for a Re-Survey recommendation
and develop one similar for the BPV Joint Review.
Status Open (Off Track). draft still needs to be reviewed during November Code
Week.

Action Item
Establish basic guidelines for the acceptance of Local Language Manuals. Per the Conduct Document
Issue 1 Revision 9, The Quality Document and supporting procedures/records shall be in English. If another
language Manual is prepared, the English Manual shall govern for accreditation or authorization of the
organization by ASME. English manuals and documents are presented for initial and renewal Surveys and
Joint Reviews, but local language manuals and documents are being used daily that are not controlled or
accepted by the Authorized Inspection Agency. The Code states, The Manufacturer may at any time make
changes in the Quality Control System concerning the methods of achieving results, subject to acceptance by
the Authorized Inspector. Since the Conduct document is the only source to speak of specific language,
ASME will present this item to the Committee on the Conduct of Conformity Assessment Activities (C3A2)
for their review and action. This item has been placed on the committees November 17, 2014 meeting
agenda.

Status Open This item was discussed at the November 2014 Committee on Conduct of Conformity
Assessment Activities (C3A2). Since the item may have an effect on requirements of the Certificate Holder,
the issue was forwarded to the Board on Conformity Assessment (BCA) and is on their January 2015 Meeting
Agenda.

Action Item
Increase AIA participation during Surveys and Joint Reviews and the use of the AIA to assist Certificate
Holder in translating technical aspects of the ASME code to the team. This item will be discussed again and
training held with ASME Designees from ASME, National Board, and Jurisdictions on how best to involve
the AIA representative during the Survey and Joint Review process. Initial training was held with ASME
Consultants in August 2014 (Miami FL) and ASME Designees with the National Board and Jurisdictions
September 2014 (Columbus OH). This AIA participation awareness and training will continue through the
2015 training period.

ASME Operations and Process Management Staff presented information on the


upcoming release of the CA Connect portal. The new portal will go live November
24, 2014. The following services were recommended by AIS representatives and
action items created.

Planning and execution of an International Certificate Holder / AIA Conformity Assessment Informational and
Training Session. The following is the preliminary timeline for the upcoming events:
2nd week of January Preliminary Agenda sent to all AIAs.
2nd week of February Registration Website Available for Certificate holder Registration process (Please
remind your certificate holders there is no registration fee involved).
2nd Week of March - Confirmation of attendees (AIAs Participants and CHs)
1st week of April Send out a confirmation and Final Agenda
May 9-10 Workshop held in Busan, South Korea
May 16-17 Workshop held in Shanghai, China.
