Type of lesson: Communication of new knowledge

Lesson aims:
1. to identify and describe the five senses;
2. to recognize the basic location (left, right, here, there);
3. to understand short, simple, written texts used in everyday situations;
4. to use the specific vocabulary(see, smell, taste, touch) in simple dialogues.
APPROACHES AND TECHNIQUES: Communicative approach
AIDS: textbook, blackboard, computer, handouts, woksheets, edu soft
ACTIVITY1:Warm- up
Timing:5
Interaction: T-Ss.
Techniques: greetings; game; song
Procedure:
greetings; T. sets the right atmosphere to encourage speaking and Ss. involvement ;
T says some commands, Ss respond
T tells the Ss they are going to talk about the five senses

ACTIVITY2:Explicit instruction and Teacher Modeling


Timing:15
Interraction: T-Ss.,Ss.-Ss.
Techniques: mime
Procedure: The teacher plays some videos on youtube related to the five senses. The students
repeat the new words. After listening to the new words, the students join in singing.
The teacher writes on the blackboard the words and tells the pupils their translations. They are asked to
draw the body part related to each sense.
The students then have to mime one of the sense and form sentences using the structure He/She can see,
He/ She can smell.

ACTIVITIES 3 &4: Guided Practice and Interactive Modeling

Techniques: group work using flashcards
Procedure: The teacher makes five groups of students and assigns each group one of the
senses.

ACTIVITY 4 Independent Working Time


Timing: 10
Interraction: T-Ss. Ss-Ss
Procedure: Students will have to complete the My Five Senses worksheets on their own. Once all the
students have completed the worksheet, they will check their answers with their peers.

ACTIVITY 5 Assessment
Timing:5
Interraction:T-Ss
Procedure: Each student is given a folded piece of paper. The Ss are asked to draw a picture for each sense
in each box. They should make sure to include the names of the senses.
To close out the lesson, the teacher asks the students to tell the senses.
