Dermatophytes commonly manifest in several clinical forms depending on the site of infection. Tinea capitis involves the scalp and is usually caused by Trichophyton tonsurans or Microsporum audouinii, appearing as scaly patches of hair loss. Tinea corporis presents as expanding red patches with scaling on the arms, legs, and torso. Tinea cruris affects the genital region, causing erythematous and scaling lesions in intertriginous areas.
