Dear Dani
th
Thank you for having Kim and I visit your class today, Monday 28 November, to observe part of your HASS lesson,
where students were completing activities around convicts and celebrations.

While in your room, we observed and noted the following:

Rm 17 continues to be a bright and organised classroom which celebrates student learning. All your resources
are well organised, the displays are meaningful and you have created a sense of belonging, well done! We
particularly liked the Lorax storyboards that your students made. We did note that there was quite a
difference in the feedback given to work on display and around the room; some work samples had detailed
rubrics, while others appeared unmarked. This could be an area to focus on in the future.
You did very well to juggle the vastly different curriculum contents and have your Y3s and Y4s engaged and
enjoying activities around convicts being transported to Australia and celebrations around the world. We were
very impressed to see you manage these two separate topics very well, great job.
We liked how you have continued to meet Elizabeths needs all year. The desk chart, work folders and extra
support you gave her to begin the task are all examples of how you continue to do this. You have built a great
relationship with her and I am sure she will miss you immensely next year.
There was hardly any misbehaviour to observe during the lesson, which is mainly due to the relationships you
have built with your class throughout the year. There were a few instances where you managed a few minor
things with some low key responses and the use of 3.21 to count down to quiet. However, we would have
like to see some faction tokens given out during the lesson for students like Ella and Connor who were working
hard during the time we were in the room.
Tenille and yourself obviously work very well together. Tenilles desk has all the focus group folders ready and
it has been great to see her being used effectively.
The use of technology in your lesson was very impressive. From the Web Quests, iTunesU course, PicCollage
and Seesaw, technology use was evident everywhere and the students were all very engaged in topics that
could be quite dry if you relied on worksheets and a textbook. Finding an iTunesU course that had been
created by someone else, which matched the topic and linked to the Australian Curriculum, was a great find.
Have you shared this resource with your colleagues?
Throughout the mat session, you continually checked for understanding when you had given instructions or
even when you were reading to the class. This was impressive to see and showed us how you build
accountability into everything you do, well done.
The use of the Disney cards to assign groups was a good idea. The groups were formed and on task with a
minimum of fuss. Is this easier to do rather than use popsticks?
WALT and WILF/SC were evident in your lesson and it was great to hear you ask the students what the letters
stood for and to focus them in on what they need to. This is very important for the students and for yourself in
order to maximise learning opportunities throughout the lesson.

Well done on an excellent lesson Dani, we are very lucky to continue to have you as part of our team at KPS! The
students of Room 17 have been lucky to have you all this yearand we are sure they will all miss you lots next year. Keep
up the great work!

Thank you,

Jon Attwell Kim Reghenzani
