Lost and Lord of the Flies Comparison

You always indent the first line of any paragraph. And you always underline or

italicize the names of long texts. Only short texts like short stories, poems, songs or TV

episode titles get Quotation Marks. Any long work like novels, newspaper titles, TV

series titles or really long poems always get underlined if you are hand writing, or italics

if you are typing your work.

You should always double space your work because it is easier for your teacher to

mark. ALWAYS double space your work that is unless your teacher tells you otherwise.

simply a matter of carelessness and not using a spell checker

o DO make absolutely certain that the thesis statement is clearly defined and that
you have included the directional statements
o DO NOT begin offering support for your subtopics
o DO NOT make statements about the function of the essay, or of individual proof
(This essay will prove that.) with quality writing the purpose of each statement
will be clear

In the Body Paragraphs:

o DO NOT use the words I WE YOU OUR In my opinion I think I
feel You should

therefore it is connected to the thesis.

example of..
o DO analyze your quotations to show me how they are connected to your thesis
o DO have three supports for each point you are making. If you cannot come up
with that many, then you are not making a strong enough point.

In the Conclusion:
o DO NOT EVER begin your conclusion with In conclusion or To conclude or
In summary or To sum up it is your last paragraph, therefore it is
OBVIOUSLY a conclusion. (Okay, maybe Im over reacting but it does seem
redundant, so try to come up with something better!)
o DO NOT introduce any new information everything you need to say should
have already been said
o DO NOT make statements about what the essay was supposed to have done This
essay proved that.
