1. Constructivism is a beliefs that children learn by constructing knowledge. It also

means that children have theories or ideas about the world and that they are constantly

applying these theories in an attempt to understand and construct new knowledge.

Constructivism is a huge step for children to show us teacher that they can have different

ideas, creativeness when using their knowledge and their ideas.

2. An example of a theory-building is the children I am volunteering at the preschool

are planting carrots and are seeing how much they grow and how long they have grown.

We have been measuring out how much water to put in our plant and how long the plant

grows. We been measuring them every two days to see if they have grown a difference or

if they are still the same. We also have the children write down on what has happen to the

plant and how much water they have put in. We also take a picture every two days to

show how the plant is doing and if it is growing or not.

3. A big idea is an overarching idea that engages, inspires, and is relevant to

childrens interest, an idea that is rich with possibilities. One of the big ideas for children

is movement for the children. Children like to move around like running, dancing,

playing with other children, going down the slide, and etc... Children also like to see

other things move like animals, bugs, toys, and even adults.
4. Teaching is a re-teaching, reinforcing, moving on, or rethinking the goals. If we

didnt have assessments us teacher would be teaching a series of activities that would go

on even if the children didnt understand it or did understand it. Good assessments will

help guide decisions for a teacher about each child in the classroom. Formative

assessments helps us tell us what to teach next or what project the children should do.

Teacher should make a rubric to help children and teacher understand when it comes to

understanding the child and the child understanding what they are learning about.
5. Appropriate and useful assessments is not going to help the children without them

having communication and underscores that are importance of language development.

Children who are using vocabulary and have the ability to talk about their ideas can

develop very quickly when they are involved in an interesting and engaging in a topic.

Children who are very talkative can get other children into the conversation and keep

going on in the interesting topic they have chosen to use. The teacher would come over

and ask the children what they are talking about and the children will tell them. When the

children tell the teacher what they are talking about the teacher would get into their topic

and ask them some question about their topic which engages the two children to think

and put more things into their topic.

6. That in the NAYEC position statement is to help teacher to help with excellence in early

childhood education by providing a framework for best practice. I also learned that it

good for us teacher to help children learn and gain new knowledge every day when

learning, exploring, and playing. Early childhood practitioners have to consider the three

areas of knowledge and they are child development learning, child as an individual, and

social and cultural contexts.
