Reading Assignment #3

1. Summarize the 2 most important points from Ch. 6 and explain why they are important (2

paragraphs)
The first important points from chapter six is direction of movement. The

movement is in the direction of movement that is the nature of the movement is made

visible. There are many ways for direction of movement like throwing a ball to hit the

blocks and if they missed then they will figure out a different direction to go when

throwing the ball. Another example is a maze and a ball. Having the children grabbing

the box and moving it around the maze to get the ball to hit the hole of the end of the

maze.
The second important point is the mysterious movement. The reason why it is

important is because the children do not know why the different types of objects and

movement are made and the children will never know. But having a mysterious

movement can help the children gain their interest keep their focus on the result

movement instead of knowing how the movement is made and what causes this type of

movement.
2. Summarize the 2 most important points from Ch. 7 and explain why they are important (2

paragraphs)
One of the important points in chapter seven is patterns. The reason why I find it

important is because pattern can be viewed as a form balance in a way that involve the

reproduction of a visual image, sound, or an object over and over. Understanding pattern

is huge in math and science; in math they are used to create as a building block for much

as arithmetic and geometry. Patterns are used in science for a sign of regularity in sound,

in light, and in nature. Pattern in regularity and irregularity is a difference in patterns in

essential for classification in many domains and one of the foundation of experimenting

and uses of the scientific method.

The second important point in chapter seven is comparisons and tools of

measurement. Making comparisons is an important element of the study of balance.

There are different variables that can be compared to many things. Children can compare

length, width, number, shapes, volume, weight, sizes or mass, time, distance, speed, and

angles. Children can use many different tools to compare and measure these variables to

help them with their curiosity and to also help them with and to also encourage the

children to do these different type of comparison and tools of measurement.

3. Summarize the 2 most important points from DAP p. 113-129 and explain why they are

important (2 paragraphs)
One of the important point is physical development and how children use

different fine motor and gross motor when using physical development. Preschoolers are

very physical creatures due to the running, moving, and jumping. Children will do

anything and will react to joyfulness to many opportunities for dancing, creative different

movement, physical dramatic play, and being outdoor where they can move without

anyone trying to stop them from doing different movement and many others. Having
children use physical development can help them use many fine motor and gross motor to

see how they are connected to our body and to explore many things by trying different

movements and others.

The second important point is emotional development. Having children have

different emotions when there are other children around can be good to see how they will

react to other children, caregivers, and teachers. Children have positive and negative

emotions that serve important functions. Children positive emotions are; happy, excited,

joy, hope, interest, kindness, surprise, and cheerfulness. Children negative emotions are;

fear, anxiety, dread, anger, rage, sorrow, grief, frustrations, and disappointment. Children

use these emotions to show us what they are feeling and to also help us try to fix those

emotions back to a positive emotions so the child can stay happy and not be feeling the

negative emotions.
