A Growing Issue in Education: Funding for Technology Integration

I chose this issue because budgetary restrictions have held back innovation in the

past. It is important that we make education a priority and spend our money properly.

Certainly, it seems that there is not any lack of funds in the area of tech tools

development. In fact, this is one of the most quickly growing industries. However, the

problem in lies with how is a shrinking education budget fit the ever-changing

technologies into its parameters? Tech can be expensive, especially when trying to keep

up with the latest trends. Some even argue that these technologies are unnecessary as they

provide unnecessary distractions and takes away from human interactions. Others argue

that the cost of these technologies creates a disparity among wealthier and poorer

students. The cost creates a divide that gives the richer students at wealthier school an

inherent advantage over their counterparts in poorer circumstances. Despite the views

listed above, some argue that it is possible to utilize technology tools without maxing out

your budget. It is possible to be smart and creative with the technology integration.

Either way, money seems to be one of the biggest issues facing schools today and

especially in the area of technology. It is important to find a means of creates equal

opportunity, cost effective technology and proper training for teachers to ensure the

money spent is used effectively.
