What is swine flu? What is H1N1 name indicating?

As pharmacists, we all know that H1N1 is a mild flu that can be transmitted between humans
and infect the human by dealing with swine …

As well that we all know that H1 indicate the first type of Heamaglutinin, while N1 means
Neuraminidases which are substances secreted by the M.O to help in spreading of the virus.

Unfortunately, most of the public don’t know this information.

But do you think that EPSF members will stand still?

SO, EPSF team started to rock …

Time:
The campaign lasted for five weeks starting from 1st of October till 5th of November 2009

Materials:
Flyers of H1N1: 16000 flyers
Flyers of PPAC: 6000 flyers
Posters: 250 posters
Scientific Associations contributing:
The prove that we had a huge campaign is that 9 of the biggest universities in Egypt worked in
this campaign and took the lead of helping the public...

Preparations:
The content of the flyers and posters was chosen by Public Health team and designed by
Publications Chairperson, while it was printed by Promotion and co-ordination teams in the
EPSF …

Materials were distributed over the 9 associations and in every Scientific Association awareness
workshop were done and role plays to practice counseling the public …

Places for the awareness campaigns were chosen and permissions taken and Scientific
Association’s members started to work.

Presence of EPSF team all over Egypt was obvious; in Universities, clubs, schools, malls and
many other public places…

WE WERE SPREADING PEOPLE …

Public places:
 Mansoura University campus and sports clubs by SAMPS.
 At Faculty of pharmacy, Pharos University campus, Green Plaza Mall and El-Manar school
by PSPSA.
 MUST University and Hospital by PAM.
 Faculty of pharmacy - Ain Shams University and El-Zohour sports club by ASSPSA.
 Nahda University, Suif club, Wasta Hospital and El-Shrouq and El-Shaheed Gharib schools
by EPSF - NUB.
 Tanta University campus by TPSS.
 Helwan University campus and two schools by EPSF – Helwan.
 Egyptian Russian University campus and Al-Shaheed Ahmed and Minaret El-Asher
schools by ERSPS.

SO, DID YOU COUNT THEM?

But was that just it?!

We also had our online campaign which covered Facebook groups and EPSF official website.
Cooperation:
It’s not our efforts alone; another student’s associations were interested in sharing it with us
Such as:

 IFMSA Egypt (International Federation of Medical Scientific Association) worked with

SAMPS in Mansoura.
 Dentistry students in MUST University worked with PAM.
 BMSA (Bani Suif Medical Students’ Association) with EPSF - NUB … And many others.

WE WERE ON FIRE …
NOW, we are relieved, for delivering the message to the public …
EPSF members are glad by doing there role in the society.
