1. How can they improve their lesson plans?

The ideas are great in your lesson. Would be preferred to know; how you would give the
brief overview of the whole lesson at the introduction, and when sharing their ideas how will the
students participate. At the end of the lesson, will the students have clear image of the connection
between energy and matter with the approach EFS? Or just Sustainability.

2. Are the activities appropriate for the childrens age and social context? Do they need to be aware
of some potential issues?
I think the activities encourage student to participate in many ways of learning. For example,
allowing students to be creative and reflect on their learning. The Sustainabingo is a great
activity to get their minds working, to use language skills, and be inclusive working with others
in the class. The activities will also encourage students to act in sustainable ways in their homes
and community.

3. Do the activities reflect the teaching approach they are following?

It shows a clear reflection on the teaching approach.

1. How can they improve their lesson plans?

The YouTube clip is an interesting way to tuning in students understanding about rubbish waste and
disposals. Yet, making connections with students lives and the schools environment relating to the main
topics will get them more involved in the learning and activities.

2. Are the activities appropriate for the childrens age and social context? Do they need to be aware of
some potential issues?

The teaching strategies used in the lesson are effective and would facilitate students learning. The
activities are also appropriate for the students year level through the use of visual resources and open
ended prompting questions.

3. Do the activities reflect the teaching approach they are following?

The activities includes a range of learning styles, and relates with the EFS approach, as students
participate in open discussions, creating display boards and making connections to sustainable practices.

Feedback from Emily and Samantha

1. How can they improve their lesson plans?

Excellent lesson plan. Great experiment with fruit and vegetables to learn about renewable energy in
class. During the development session, discuss other types of renewable energy briefly to improve the
lesson more. Would have been great to see an attachment of the instructions when conducting the
experiment.

2. Are the activities appropriate for the childrens age and social context? Do they need to be aware of
some potential issues?

According to students year level it would be appropriate for them to write a hypothesis. However, some
students may not have suitable writing skills for this task as they come from bilingual background and
they are ESL students. Yet working in groups will encourage them to share each others opinions for the
task.

3. Do the activities reflect the teaching approach they are following?

Including hands on experiment is great way of getting students actively involved in their learning.
Renewable energy is definitely related with the EFS approach. The questions discussed in the closure are
important because it encourage them to be critical thinkers.
