Prevention of size detection error of paper loaded in the top 250-sheet cassette
Detail :
<Symptom>
The paper size detection error may occur with the top 250-sheet cassette.
* The 550-sheet cassette does not cause this symptom because it has a different detection method from the 250-
sheet cassette.

<Cause>
The cassette [1] is locked at the location where it can't push the paper size detection push switch [2] completely
when it is inserted.

<Factory measure>
a. Add a process to check to make sure using a jig that the paper size is detected correctly.
b. Shape change of the angular hole on the machine rear plate ;
A machine rear plate [4] which the push switch [2] is mounted on bends to the rear side of the copier. To prevent
this, change the shape of the angular hole [D] on the machine rear plate [4] which the convex [5] on the base
plate fits.

c. Shape change of the cassette lock arm stopper [3] ;

In order to move the cassette [1] locking location by 0.5mm to the rear, change the shape of the cassette lock
arm stopper [3]. The old type [A] of the cassette lock arm stopper [3] is white and a new type [E] is black.

Service work :
When the symptom above has occurred, replace the cassette lock arm stopper [3] by the new type with the
modified shape [B] (FC0-9018-000). (Replacing the cassette lock arm stopper [3] by the new type [B] will move
the lock position of the cassette [1] by 1.5mm to the rear side.) The old cassette lock arm stopper is white [A]
while the new one is black [B].
* The new type cassette lock arm stopper [B] (FC0-9018-000) is for exclusive use for servicing.

When replacing the cassette lock arm stopper [3] of machines that are listed in "b" section of "Affected
machines" below (i.e., machines having the rear plate with the shape-changed angular hole), be sure to use the
new type stopper [E] (FC9-1579-010).

Points to note about service work :

After replacing the cassette lock arm stopper [3] by the new type [B] or the new type [E], be sure to check the
left margin on printed images. If the adjustment is necessary, be sure to follow the procedure below.
<Adjustment procedure>
1) Press the following keys on the control panel in sequence to enter the Service Mode.
[Settings / Registration key > press 2 key and 8 key at the same time > Settings / Registration key]
2) Press an arrow key on the LCD to select the following menu; then press "OK."
[#PRINT > #PRINT NUMERIC]
3) Press an arrow key on the LCD and select Menu No.35.
4) Input a value using the numeric keys on the control panel.
(If the value is increased by 1, the left margin is widened by 0.1mm.)
5) Press "OK" on the LCD.
6) Press one of the following keys on the control panel and go out of the Service Mode.
