1.A student carried out an experiment to determine the melting point of substance X.
The student placed approximately 5.0 g of solid substance X into a boiling tube before placing the boiling tube
and its contents into a hot water bath.
The thermometer reading is recorded at 30 seconds intervals until the temperature of the substance reaches 80C.
Diagram below shows the thermometer readings.
