type of oil rig as provided in the reference using only recyclable materials, Each registered
team consists of seven (7) delegates in which two (2) delegates are for Oil Rig Model
Presentation (O Team), two (2) are for Smart Quiz and Case Study Presentation (S Team)
and other three (3) are for Petrodash (P Team). The delegates in the O team are invited to
present their oil rig that was constructed to the line of judges and a series of assessments
followed by a test to judge the stability of the oil rig in the wave basin. Meanwhile, there
will be a challenging Smart Quiz Competition and Case Study Presentation going on for
delegates in S team to test the comprehension of the students regarding the
fundamentals of the Oil & Gas field and Renewable Energy. Lastly, the Petrodash are

Structure of Oil Rig Model
10, The structure of the oil rig model must be logic. It must have the shape of semi-submersible
oil rig, Marks will be deducted to the team that does not comply with this.
LL, The oil rig model to be constructed should be with within the range of 600 # 25mm in length
and not more than maximum height of 500mm (not including leg/base). The reference picture
of oll rig model is shown below.
12, Delegates are required to prepare a place (marked with a circle, the circle should be the size
of the weight, as the weight will be placed directly at the circle during the assessment) at the
upmost deck of the oil rig model for the assessment of the capability of the oll rig to support
weight,
13, For anchoring purpose, delegates must prepare a place at the bottom of the oil rig to be
hooked on.SOCIETY OF PETROLEUM ENGINEERS
Dimensions of the Weight
14. The oil rig will be assessed by placing it in the wave basin and weights will be placed on the
oil rig ranged from 1kg to 10kg. The lower ratio lightness to strength, the higher the score will
be given to the delegates.
15, Delegates must draw a circle (according to the dimensions of the weights below) on the
oil rig model so that the weight can be place inside the circle.
16. The weight will be enly placed inside the circle drawn
17, No changes can be made if delegates found out that the oil rigis not balanced when
weights are placed on it
18. The diameter of the weight is Sem and the weight is 10 Newton.

JUDGING CRITERIA
Remarks : Judges’ decision will be final.
1. Oil Rig Model Presentation (20%)
‘Students’ ability in presenting thelr knowledge, highlighting the selling point of the model and
handling questions will be evaluated, Supporting materials are based on delegates’ creativity in
which contain project brief (basic concept, types of materials used for every part, economical side).
2. Oil Rig Model Assessment (20%)
|. STABILITY, FLOAT ABILITY and STRENGTH (15%)
The oil rig model will be placed in the wave basin. Weight will be added increasingly on top of the
ig after confirming the oil rig is stable and floating perfectly. The oil rigis considered stable and
floating ifthe oil rig does not show an apparent slope of bending. The judges reserved the rights to
disqualify ifthe model is visibly unstable. The weight will be increased accordingly until a limit set
by the organizer to determine the maximum weight that the oll rig can be withstand, The ratio
lightness of oil rig to weight that can be supported will be considered as well. The lower the ratio of
lightness of oll rig to weight, the higher marks will be awarded,
fi, CREATIVITY (5%)
reference photo will be given prior to the delegates. Delegates are encouraged to utilize their
creativity in the fabrication of the oil rig model. Creativeness in designing model and more details
included (ie. Dead loads such as office, mud tank, etc, will be awarded with higher marks
3. Smart Quiz (25%)
Quiz on general knowledge and issues related to oll and gas industry. Two delegates from each
group will need to complete the Smart Quiz and average points will be obtained for each team.
4. Case Study (10%)
This presentation will be based on the current issues that are related to Oil &Gas field and
Renewable Energy Resources. The two delegates that have attended the Smart Quiz will be
representing their teams in this agenda. The delegates will be assessed on their capability in critical
analysis and creativity in solving oil and gas problems. They will be given 5 minutes to present their
point of view on the topic given and 5 minutes of Q&A session,
5, Petrodash (25%)
This quiz will be a quick-fire and one time elimination basis. Test on the general knowledge and
issues which related to Fundamental of Oil & Gas and Renewable Energy Resources. Four teams will
compete in each round in separate rooms.
