deceased'swidowNashalamentsbeforehim.BehindisaroundtoppedfunerarystelacontainingaprayeronHunefer'sbehalf,it
standsbeforehispyramidcappedtombchapelonthewestbankatThebes.Below,officiantscarryaheartandforelegcutfroma
stillbleatingcalftowardsatableheapedwithofferings,achestandritualimplementslaidoutreadyfortheOpeningoftheMouth
ceremonywhich,willreincorporateHunefer'sspiritintohismummifiedcorpseandenablehimtoenjoytheafterlifetothefull.The
finelywrittensemicursivehieroglyphsabovethevignettearethetextofChapter23ofthe'BookoftheDead'containingritual
utterancesfortheceremony.
