Essential Questions:

How did German Jewish citizens become outcasts in the age of the Nazis?
What type of experiences did they have that we need to understand today?

1. Audio/Visual (People to Technology) Locate and describe an audio/visual clip from the
museum.
Information: Watch a special film directed and headed by one of the Lieutenant colonels from
the camps who also directed the movie Anne Frank. This video paints a picture as to what people
went through everyday in the concentration camps. Pause and look at the pictures that are shown

6. Literary Connections (Text to Text) Connect a text from inside the museum to a text you
have read, studied, or found.
Information:
When looking at all of the different shoes I could automatically connect them back to two things
we have learned and done in English class. One of them was from To Kill A Mockingbird, when
Atticus says to Scout You never really understand a person until you consider things from his
point of view...until you climb into his skin and walk around in it. This relates back to the shoes
because when looking at them I had to understand what they went through and how much one
pair of shoes could mean to someone. Also in English we had to write an essay that told a story
about a pair of shoes and the journey they went on. This connects back to the shoes because
every shoes we looked at had a story behind them and each pair did not have the same story.
