BACKGROUND AND RATIONALE

Sto. Nino Elementary School is a DepED managed partially urban school


located approximately 6 kilometers from the Barangay hall of Sinunuc
with a population of approximately 110 students. Aside from regular students
there are also approximately 25 former Out-of-School Youth in the area that
is currently enrolled in the Alternative Learning System (ALS) Program of
DepEd. The pupils and ALS Learners are children of farmers and peasants
whose main source of income is only through farming.

The village called MIGASA where the school located is inhabited by


approximately 80 families. The school is in the mountain and is also
surrounded by small rivers which the children need to cross everyday to
reach school.

This project proposal is intended to provide the children with school supplies
such as Bags, notebooks, books, pens, pencils, crayons, erasers, rubber
shoes etc. to ensure that the children and their parents in the area will not
anymore need to wait for good harvest or worry of buying the necessary
materials mentioned.

The proponent also intend to conduct a simultaneous medical mission such


as Free consultation, blood checking, free circumcision and dental services to
the residents of the community.
OBJECTIVES
The objectives of this project are:
To provide school supplies to each student of Sto. Nino Elementary
School and learners of the Alternative Learning System (ALS).
To conduct dental/medical mission in the community for the students
and their families
To provide other educational materials like books and computers.
Identify long term and sustainable projects to address the problems in
their community

SIGNIFICANCE
The significances of this project are:
Students will have quality school materials that can be used for the
rest of the year
Beneficial to all their parents who are poor and marginalized and
cannot anymore afford to buy new educational materials for their
children.
The quality of education will be improved.
