Daily Shooting Schedule

Week Beginning Scene Description

25/01/2016 Camera 1 Animating of the first camera, which is
animation the establishing shot of the animation.
25/01/2016 Camera 1 Rendering of each frame (each as .png)
rendering of the camera animated above.
01/02/2016 Camera 2 Animating of the second camera shot,
animation using the same techniques as used to
animate the first camera view.
01/02/2016 Camera 2 Rendering of each frame (each as .png)
rendering of the camera animated above. This
may need to be continued on the next
day as the animation of this scene may
take longer than the others.
08/02/2016 Camera 3 Animating of this scene will be done by
animation simple rigging and use of splines for
camera movement, so the animating of
this scene will not take as long as
others.
08/02/2016 Camera 3 As this scene has many more objects,
rendering lights and is closer to the objects than
08/02/2016 Camera 3 the majority of the other scenes, this
rendering scene will take longer to render than
(continued) the others, so will done on 2 separate
days.
15/02/2016 Camera 4 Animating of the 4th scene will taking
animation slightly longer than others as a collision
need to be animated in a believable
way.
15/02/2016 Camera 4 Despite the longer time taken to
rendering animate the scene, the rendering will be
shorter than other scenes as the scene
is only a few seconds long.
22/03/2016 Camera 5 Same as with camera 4, except with a
animation different character and area of the
environment.
22/03/2016 Camera 5 Same as with camera 4.
rendering
29/02/2016 Camera 6 Animation of this scene is simply the
animation camera moving backwards so can be
animated easily and quickly.
29/02/2016 Camera 6 Because of the point made above, the
rendering rendering will be on the same day and
can be done relatively quickly as well.
07/03/2016 Final compilation As the scenes are all previously
and rendering rendered this process should not take
in/from Adobe more than a day (at most). This includes
AfterEffects matching the scenes in the right order
and the addition of titles and music.
Crew / Voice artist sheet
As this project has no dialogue used and I am the only person who is doing
modelling and animation, there are no other crew members to be contacted.

Safe working practices

Safe working practices have been followed while working on the computers
during animation and rendering, this includes taking regular breaks away from
the computer as well as routinely making back-ups of the all work that has been
updated. Drinks and any other food items were also kept away from the
computers at all times.

Offline edit

This is how the raw footage was after being imported; only the titles, background
music and black background item were added in this image, they were then
edited in the way detailed in Production processes.

Production processes
The animation was done in 3DS Max, using both standard key frame animation,
with tools such as move and rotate, but also using path constraints for the main
movement of the trains to make them follow the track correctly. After each scene
was rendered, each was taken into after effects where they were compiled into
the final video. Title screens were added at this stage as well. The entire
animation was later colour corrected as the scene appeared to be too light
compared to how it was original intended. A fade was added to the end of the
animation to fade to black once the piece was over. An audio clip (Royalty Free)
was added for the duration of the entire animation, this audio clip was unedited.

Edit decision list

The majority of the scenes remain unchanged from the original plans in the
storyboard, however the durations of some scenes has changed. Other changes
such as an end fade out were added, along with a royalty free audio track and a
colour correction to the entire animation.
