Experience and Project Highlights

Independent Consultant 2009-Present

eSolutions Consulting Group, LLC -El Paso, TX (Sub-Contractor)

City Wide Wi-Fi Deployment (2010)

As part of a team planned, site surveyed, implemented and optimized free public access as well as
secure wireless internet for the City of El Paso, Texas. The public access Wi-Fi was set up in
several public libraries, the citys Museum of Art and the Museum of History. Private Wi-Fi access
was implemented at various police stations and throughout the 12 floors of City Hall. Tasks
included converting numerous Cisco Aironet APs from autonomous to lightweight and tuning
them to the optimal channels and frequencies per site requirements. At each client site, VLANs
were created on various model Cisco Catalyst Switches, for the proper DHCP scope allocation,
network segmentation and security. The design at City Hall was set up using a Cisco WLC using
WCS for central management. These are the specifics I was part of on the project, as it was large
in scale.

Network Deployment (2009)

Designed, configured and maintained a new network for a Law Office. Involved were the initial
inception of cabling and device placement, cooling and equipment purchasing. Dual Cisco
Catalyst 3750G switches were used for both routing and switching needs, using stack wise
technology and HSRP for high availability and redundancy. EIGRP was chosen as the routing
protocol for inter-VLAN routing and communications. Other tasks included the installation of
Microsoft 2008 Servers for secure data storage and backup, several new Windows 7 clients were
installed as well. Remote and on-site monitoring services and upgrades were performed after
deployment.

Network Specialist ESP-LLC El Paso, TX (2005-2009)

Responsible for the manipulation, cleansing and tracking of imported data sets from various
school districts nationwide (HIPPA Compliant). Monitor and maintain all automated FTP sites
(Web-based Data Repositories) for multiple clients. I furthermore had the responsibility for the
maintenance of local and remote Cisco routers, switches, firewalls and daily server backups. With
my highest of priorities being the high availability, security and monitoring of the Windows 2003
servers, where the HIPPA compliant data was stored. Updates, installs and network
troubleshooting & upgrades were routine as well.

Data Center Engineer DataPipe San Jose, CA (2004-2005)

Responsible for the monitoring and maintenance of over 300 online servers, as well as the data
centers routers, switches, firewalls and IDS/IPS. During my 12 hour shift, I was in charge of
immediate intervention, based on a mission critical operating environment. Responsibility matrix
was based on hardware/software failure(s), network failure(s) or a combination of power/cooling
interruption. Other responsibilities included the following: Installation of additional memory or
disk storage devices in response to client upgrade requests, undertook new server
implementations, rack installation, network configuration and hardware burn-in. I was
accountable for maintaining data center standards and best practices by efficiently managing all
rack space, networking equipment, switches, firewall appliances and other secondary support
equipment.

queue, or immediate resolution of time critical issues. My role was to perform computer and
network system maintenance, upgrades and troubleshooting involved extremely diverse hardware
and software, supporting over 1600 students and staff. Large project rollouts included the
deployment of 20 computer labs for the 9 th Grade Initiative project, spread throughout 10 of
the high school campuses. The deployment involved the installation and configuration of
a new special education network, consisting of Windows 2000 servers, Windows 98
clients and networking equipment.
