encourages
community
members
to
know
how
to
identify
and

heart
disease.
LANSING,
MI
During
American
Heart
Month,
Hayes
Green
Beach
Memorial
Hospital
(HGB)
urges
the
community
to
learn
and
engage
in
heart
healthy
practices.
Research
funded
by
the
American
Heart
Association
has
found,
once
again,
that
heart
disease
is
the
most
prevalent
cause
of
death
for
Americans,
accounting
for
1
in
7
deaths,
claiming
more
lives
each
year
than
all
forms
of
cancer
and
Chronic
Lower
Respiratory
Disease
combined.
With
the
predominant
risk
of
heart
and
cardiovascular
disease,
HGB
is
offering
patients
and
community
members
ways
to
combat
their
risk
and
improve
their
quality
of
life.
A
healthy
lifestyle
is
attainable
with
simple
and
positive
changes.
Not
all
fats
are
bad
fats.
Replace
solid,
saturated
fats
from
animals
with
healthy
fats
like
liquid
oils,
nuts,
and
fatty
fish.
Add
color
to
your
diet.
The
easiest
way
to
make
sure
you
get
a
variety
of
vitamins
and
minerals
is
by
eating
colorful
fruits
and
vegetables.
Start
being
active
a
little
each
day.
Adults
are
recommended
about
150
minutes
of
activity
every
week,
or
just
10-15
minutes
twice
a
day.
Dont
let
stress
take
over.
Stress
may
affect
behaviors
linked
to
heart
disease
like
overeating,
high
blood
pressure,
and
high
cholesterol
levels.
Manage
your
stress
positively
with
physical
activity
or
relaxation
techniques.

how
to
identify
a
heart
attack.
Chest
discomfort,
shortness
of
breath,
nausea,
and
pain
in
arms,
back
or
neck
are
all
warning
signs
of
a
heart
attack.
If
present,
immediately
call
9-1-1.
Take
advantage
of
HGB
resources.
The
HGB
Heart
Station
offers
several

well
as
