DESIGN PARAMETERS

The municipal wastewater treatment plant to be designed must be able to treat a wastewater
influent that has a volumetric flowrate (Q) of 30 MLD (Megaliters per day), Biological Oxygen Demand
(BOD5) of 400 mg/L, Total Suspended Solids (TSS) of 400 mg/L, in which the BOD5 comprises the 60%
of the TSS Concentration, and finally, has coliform amount of 2.5 x 10 8 MPN (Most Probable
Number/100 mL). The effluent is to be discharged into navigable rivers under Class D classification of
freshwater after satisfying the allowable values of the primary parameters as specified in the Water
Quality Guidelines and General Effluent Standards of 2016 set by the DENR Administrative Order
(2016). The effluent standards for the given design parameters are summarized in Table 1.1.
