5. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

5.1. Steam main lines to be properly sloped and provided with drip legs and
trap connections at low points. 300' maximum spacing.

5.2. Welds must be Department of Labour Standard and bear stamp of welder.

5.3. All steam lines having a pressure above 15 p.s.i.g are to be approved by a
certified Professional Engineer Licensed in the Province of Ontario, and
also subject to the approval of the TSSA (Technical Standards & Safety
Authority) which is an independent, non-government, organization
responsible for regulating boilers, pressure vessels, pressure piping and
fittings manufactured and used in Ontario under the "Boilers and Pressure
Vessels Act".

5.4. For insulation requirements for steam mains see Section 10 (INSULATION
PIPE COVERING & INSULATION)

5.5. Socket weld fittings preferred for 2" diameter & under, however, screwed
fittings can be used where frequently serviced equipment is installed, (i.e.
steam traps, strainers, gauges, etc.) provided the valve directly upstream of
these items is a socket weld valve (last isolation valve).

The above applications are for a quick reference only. If in doubt please contact Terry Walsh ext. 3694 for inspection prior to
installation. For example: low pressure (15# or 30#) multi-trap or elevated condensate return form grade applications into a common
return header where back pressure may short circuit the system. Additional specialty traps are available for extreme service but in
the best interest of Algoma Steel Inc. standardization to the above units will be adequate.
