I curated resources that would assist students to complete an Everglades conservation project.
Learners will begin by gathering facts about the Everglades and then will create an argument for
conservation. Some of the resources provide general information, while others describe current
conservation efforts. Students will be creating a product that will persuade others to join the
conservation efforts. This lesson will be used in a seventh grade science classes. This particular
lesson will be used in the gifted class and the advanced science class. The gifted class has 24
students; 15 boys and 9 girls. The advanced class has 23 students; 13 girls and 10 boys. I used
Scoopit as a curation tool because I how simple it is to find resources. This site has a button that
you can add to your tool bar, allowing you to easily add resources as you search. For each
content resource an image is linked and a space is provided for annotations. I really like the
layout of the curated resources on the site. Students will be able to navigate this site easily and
explore the linked resources. This site would be useful to me as an educator to curate resources
for my students for various projects. I would love to have my students curate their own
resources using scoop it. This would be a great activity that would challenge students to evaluate
their resources while learning about a particular content.
