Leading charter school selects award-winning literacy platform to boost student achievement.
Chicago, IL, May 24, 2017 --(PR.com)-- ThinkCERCA, a leading provider of personalized literacy
solutions, announced today that it has partnered with KIPP Destiny Middle School to improve students'
writing skills. ThinkCERCA's close reading and argumentative writing platform offers differentiated
literacy lessons for English language arts, social studies, science, and math for students in grades 4-12.
KIPP Destiny, a Dallas-based public charter middle school, adopted ThinkCERCA for its 6th grade
honors program and will be used as the cornerstone of writing instruction. The school selected
ThinkCERCA to prepare students for today's rigorous state assessments, which now more than ever
require students to read critically and express their point of view through writing.
ThinkCERCA's Applied Reading & Writing lessons are topical and engaging, said Esmeralda Cardoso,
principal of KIPP Destiny Middle School. When combined with its Direct Instruction lessons, students
are really able to exercise all the educational benefits ThinkCERCA has to offer.
Designed by a team of leading educators and curriculum experts, ThinkCERCA's approach to literacy is
supported by decades of research that shows cross-curricular reading, writing, and debate leads to college
and career readiness.
The partnership represents a new twist on personalizing learning because it encourages collaborative
discussion and debate in classrooms versus individual work at workstations or in computer labs.
Writing is such an important skill to master in today's ever-changing world. If students know how to
articulate their thoughts effectively in writing, then they are more likely to be college- and career-ready,
said Eileen Murphy, founder and CEO of ThinkCERCA. We are extremely excited to partner with KIPP
Destiny to help students develop this critical skill.
ThinkCERCA's Applied Reading & Writing lessons are centered around debatable topics that get students
thinking critically about real-world issues. These lessons are differentiated for 10 levels to fuel engaging
discussions among students of varying readiness levels.
In a recent LEAP Innovations Pilot Network study of 26 ed-tech tools, ThinkCERCA's collaborative
approach to personalized literacy was proven to help students achieve two years of academic growth per
year on average.
