The Marist War Eagles baseball
team is back in the running for a state
championship.
Marist advanced to the Class AAAA
title game after sweeping LaGrange 2-0 at
LaGrange High School in the semifinals
May 17. The War Eagles won the first
game of the best-of-three series 5-0, and
completed the double-header sweep with a
9-0 victory.
Marist (24-16) will host region
7-AAAA rival Blessed Trinity (35-4) in the
championship series with a double-header
on May 25 and Game 3 on May 26, if
necessary. Blessed Trinity won the region
with an undefeated record of
12-0, while Marist finished second with a
9-3 region record.
Marist was 0-3 against Blessed Trinity
in the regular season and hopes to get
its first win against the rival team in the
championship series.
