23 November 2016
Ten feet higher! Ten feet higher! is one of the many saying that Trump supporters
adopted during the electoral process. This saying was alongside the lock her up! and the
Hillary supporters are cucks chants. On the flipside of the electoral process, Hillary supporters
frequently used the phrasing of all Trump supporters being racist bigots. Millions of people
voted in the Presidential election with droves of them vehemently supporting one side or the
other; this has caused a large schism between the supporters of both candidates which was
enflamed even more when Hillary lost while winning the popular vote. President Elect Donald
Trump may not be the most liked candidate, but the citizens must take an optimistic approach to
his presidential term as the divide that is engulfing this nation has to be expiated.
Early on November Ninth, the nation discovered who had won the 2016 Presidential
election. What they found was Donald J. Trump in position to become the forty-fifth President of
the United States. This shocked many of the people watching the election as it seemed almost
impossible for Donald to win. The New York Times details the thoughts of many with, The
surprise outcome, defying late polls that showed Hillary Clinton with a modest but persistent
edge, threatened convulsions throughout the country and the world, where skeptics had watched
with alarm as Mr. Trumps unvarnished overtures to disillusioned voters took hold
(Flegenheimer & Barbaro 2016). This quote implies that even though polls conducted before the

election showed a strong favorance towards Hillary, the uneducated voters were on Trumps side
and carried him to the Oval Office. Some of the more astute, liberal voters and observers of the
election were not happy with the results as they will cause the country to go down a more
conservative path. They do not see Donald Trump fit to be President as he is a, real estate
Barbaro 2016). This view is shared with many citizens as Clinton was much more qualified than
Trump with her experience as Secretary of State, but that could not overcome the negativity that
Clintons email servers had. With this non-existent political experience and the conservative
viewpoints Donald Trump has, the nation is wary of the events that may occur during his term:
namely, changes to the racial, climate, and allied country policies. Donald Trump takes
degrading stances on these topics with his Mexican Wall and list of Muslim immigrants, his
negation of climate change, and his unwillingness to fulfill the prior treaties America has with
other sovereign nations (Being American 2016)(Cohen 2016). With all the controversy
surrounding Donald Trumps election, it is not surprising to see protests in anguish from the
non-Trump supporters. Even so, the nation as a whole must be optimistic about the future
One of the main contentions of Donald Trumps victory speech was the idea of the nation
becoming whole again. The particular segment was, Now its time for America to bind the
wounds of division; have to get together. To all Republicans and Democrats and independents
across this nation, I say it is time for us to come together as one united people(Trump 2016).
What Donald said in his speech is a legitimate problem with the nation today as there are many
dissident voices from Trump haters being heard after the election. These voices are mainly the

more educated Democrats and Independents who do not support Trumps policies and will not
accept his bigotry in the oval office. This discontent has caused somewhat of a schism to form in
the nation and will have negative effects if not resolved The idea the nation needs to realize is
the Presidential Election is over and Donald Trump will be the President of the United States
come January. America cannot be divided at the seams as it is the United States of America
and to be a functional entity; the country needs to be united under the next President. It is time to
heal the wounds of division and bring all Democrats, Republicans, and Independents to a state
of optimism towards the Trump presidency. Time will tell exactly what will happen during his
reign but in this day, there is no exact way to see what course the nation will take. For this
reason, the only logical viewpoint is to be hopeful of what the future will hold and hope it
2016 has been an interesting year so far in many regards such as celebrity deaths and,
namely, the Presidential Election. The two candidates that were up for vote for the most
prestigious position in America were a celebrity billionaire and a women that was under FBI
investigation for her email server. Each side had their own passionate supporters that despised
the other sides backers and the candidates themselves are polar opposites of each other. Hillary
Clinton is a legitimate politician who was liberal in views, while Donald Trump has never held a
political office before and is more conservative views. These views and the candidate's
supporters clashed heavily during the election and are still clashing to this day after Trump
became the President Elect. While the reasons why Trumps opposers are protesting are just ones
which stem from his general bigotry, it does not help heal the schism in the nation. America
needs to give Trump a chance as no one knows exactly what will happen in his term and if it will

be beneficial for America.. The world is a place full of judgment before action and that is not
what the country needs at the moment. The United States just has to remain hopeful that Donald
