Summary of the Event (at least 3 major points; each point will have its own
paragraph)A. _____This article highlights progress of Alzheimer's disease in the
drug industry. There is a drug by the name of aducanumab that destroys the
characteristic of protein plaques that build up in the brains of people with
Alzheimer's. The experts are being really cautious with this drug because it is still
in the early stage of development. The good news is it is hinted that it stops
memory decline, since Alzheimers is such a big problem larger studies are being
fulfilled to fully study the drug's effects. The buildup of amyloid in the brain has
been a treatment objective and doctors as well as scientist are trying to erase the
amyloid plaque from the brain of Alzheimers patience.

Doctors and experts have tested 165 patients to see if the aducanumab
drug was safe to take. After year of treatment of aducanumab it showed that
higher dosages of aducanumab had a bigger result on the amyloid plaques. Forty
people dropped out of the study because they experienced headaches. This
happen more commonly when people took larger doses. Good thing is
researchers then carried out tests on memory and found positive effects. The
next step the doctors and experts took are recruiting 2,700 patients with early
stage Alzheimer's across North America, Europe and Asia in order to thoroughly
test the drug's effect on mental
decline._______________________________________________________________
________Doctors in the Alzheimer's Research UK,are really excited for this new
drug. Doctors at the Alzheimer's Research were saying the most astonishing
thing is that more amyloid was cleared when people took higher doses of the
drug. Doctors are very excited for this new drug to get passed to help and maybe
even cure the effect of Alzheimer's.

_______. Your Opinion of the Event (at least 3 sentences).
________________________________My grandpa has Alzheimers so hearing this
makes me really happy. Even though my grandpa is in a very deep stage of the
Alzheimers disease theres really nothing doctors can do to solve this problem. If
this medication does get pass I will end up in tears because nobody should have
to go through this horrible disease.

Relate your Event to a Historical Event (compare and contrast with current
event)._____________________The current event is about the Alzheimers drug
study this will eliminate the plaque that forms on the brain and causes
Alzheimer's. When the past event is about the discovery of Alzheimers by
Dr.Alois Alzheimer in 1906. The patient who had profound memory loss was
Auguste D. In her brain autopsy he discovered dramatic shrinkage and abnormal
deposits in and around nerve cells. Because of this more than two decades later
the electron microscope was discovered. As well as the founding of the
development of cognitive measurement scales in the late 60s. Because of all this
so many treatments, research, movements, and awareness to fight the
Alzheimers disease. What both of these events have in common are they both
deal with Alzheimer's disease and further research of how to slow and end
Alzheimer's disease. The difference in the historical event is the founding of the
Alzheimers disease and the current event is about the further study of the
curation and research of the study.

_____________________________My event relates to Human-Environment
Interaction. The definition of disease is an illness that affects a person, animal, or
plant, a condition that prevents the body or mind from working normally. The
definition of human-environmental interaction is the ways people change their
environment and how the environment changes them. People change in the
environment everyday and people change and have to adapt to that change, so
people getting sick with this disease and it changes their lives and they have to
adapt and figure out how they are going to live with it. With this in mine we can
see how Alzheimer's affects people's lives and how they have to change to adapt
with this new disease.
