Course Evaluation
Before I took this course, I knew that I was decent at writing, but I didnt like it at all.
The only writing training I had was either petotry or persuasive essays. Persuading is all I really
knew about so I thought that I liked it the best when in reality, I hadnt been introduced to
different forms of writing. I'd always just assumed that persuading was the most important, but
its not. This course opened my eyes to narratives, observational essays, and rhetorical analyses. I
did not even know what the words rhetorical really meant in a writing standpoint. I now
understand that there are many components of building a good rhetorical piece. I have come to
realize that opinion is not crucial nor needed in many different forms of writing. Sometimes,
The assignments that changed my views the most about writing during this course were
the practice essays and the final essays and the whole process in between. Those pieces made me
realize that I liked to write objectively as I observe. This class has helped me for the future
because I will see other assignments in a new way. Ive improved in many ways. Ive become a
better editor due to peer editing. I have also improved on embedded quotations due to the chapter
My biggest accomplishment in this course was my Final rhetorical analysis. It was a very
hard and long process but after days of editing, I feel like I completed an essay that was decent. I
had never rhetorically analyzed a paper before so I feel good about myself being able to do so.
All of the pieces that I submitted to the Portfolio were those that I feel confident. I
mastered the skills of editing and composing an essay that is worth a good grade. It was a great
course and it helped me a lot. It made me like writing a little bit more.
