Synthetic resin based jointing mortar for tile linings exposed to severe stress
Base
Vinyl ester resin
Material Group
Mortars, Jointing Materials
Description
3-component jointing material based on vinyl ester resin for tiling and masonry, especially where severe chemical stress,
e.g. acids, alkalies or organic solvents, or high thermal stress apply.
Use
Jointing mortar for ceramic linings in plants operated by the chemical industry, in neutralisation plants, in heavy traffic
and reloading areas as well as in process and waste water treatment facilities.
Properties
good mechanical properties
excellent chemical resistance
thermal resistance up to 100 C

Shore D hardness, DIN 53505, ASTM D 2240 80
The thermal coefficient of linear expansion (1/K), ISO 11359-2, ASTM C 531 40 x 10-6
Chemical Resistance
Excellent resistance to chemicals, especially to solvents and other organic compounds.
Information on the chemical resistance properties will be provided on request.
Substrate
The substrate is defined as the ceramic bedding material and acid-proof material.
The joints have to be clean and free of separating agents.
The tile surface is to be protected with Steuler Separating-Varnish Pre-Coat and Steuler Separating-Varnish A prior to
mortar application (see TI 194).
The substrate should have a temperature of approx. 10 30 C.
Moisture
During application, the substrate must be kept absolutely dry. Uncured material has to be protected from any kind of
moisture (condensation, fog, precipitation or other water source). Distance to dew point has to be at least 3 K, at a relat-
ive humidity of above 70 % at least 5 K.

Waiting Times
Waiting times prior to application of subsequent coat depend on the temperature and are as follows:
Steuler Separating-Varnish A
20 C approx. 1 - 2 h
Higher temperatures reduce, lower temperatures increase the waiting time.

Working Times
The working times depend on the temperature and are as follows:
15 C approx. 40 minutes
20 C approx. 30 minutes
30 C approx. 12 minutes
Curing times
To support foot traffic at 20 C approx. 10 h.
To achieve full chemical resistance: 3 days at 20 C.
Safety measures
Mix and apply material only in well ventilated areas. Provide ventilation suited to the conditions when working in pits or
tanks. Do not smoke!
Do not expose materials to heat or open flame. This applies in particular to welding works (weld beads). Avoid direct con-
tact of the material with the skin. Wash hands with soap and water; do not clean the skin with solvents. Use barrier soap
and protective creams on exposed skin areas. In all other respects comply with the relevant regulations for prevention of
accidents.
Refer to the Safety Data Sheets!
