Instructional 1. First play the youtube video to engage students. (5 minutes)


Activities/Strate 2. After video is played ask students a thought provoking question, do
gies you think you would be able to do what the settlers did, pack
everything up and get on the road for months? Take 10 minutes to
have kids raise hands and discuss their oppinions.
3. Bring students attention back to you and pass out a map of the united
states during 1877. Have students color in map to match the map on
the board to help students see the geography. (20 minutes)
