Book Trailer Activity

Steps for the Book Trailer assignment.

1. Review the content from Module 3 on Book Trailers.
2. Select a book that you would like to use for your book trailer. If you do not work in a K-
12 environment, contact me and we will work together to select a book that is appropriate
for your work environment.
3. You will create a script for your book trailer that includes a scene-by-scene description of
your project.
4. Review your resources from Module 3 and your Curated Collection of Production
Resources on visual design. Decide which type of font you will use for your title.
Should it be serif or san serif? What size will the text be? What color will the text be?
What color will the background be?
5. Use the information from the step above and create a title for your Book Trailer.
6. Create an introduction to your book. Your introduction must include a short video clip
of you (medium shot) introducing the book. Your introduction should serve to
motivate your potential audience of readers to view the book trailer.
7. Create your Book Trailer using iMovie or MovieMaker. Be as creative as you like in your
book trailer. It should be designed to motivate a specific audience of readers. Do NOT
read your entire book. This is a trailer intended to give enough information to make
your audience want to read the book.
8. Create a credit slide at the end of your Movie Trailer. Again, follow the guidelines from
the resources you found in your Curated Collection of Production Resources visual
design guidelines.
9. Save your project with the name: BookTrailer_YourLastName
10. You will then need to upload your finished book trailer to YouTube.
11. After you have uploaded your video to Youtube, you will get an embed code and embed
your finished project to your web repository professional portfolio.

Assignment Submission
Once you have created your Movie Trailer, you will upload it to a video webhosting site
(YouTube). Then, you will embed your video book trailer to your Web Repository
Professional Portfolio. Follow the instructions on the video webhosting site for
embedding your movie trailer into your Web Repository Professional Portfolio.
