Writing Sample
Your writing sample is important to us. Please choose ONE of the topics below, limiting your response to 250-600 words.
College is a time for challenging yourself, reaching beyond what is comfortable to try new things and even failing, at times.
It is what we learn from these challenges that defines us. Tell us about a time when you have not succeeded with a goal or
challenge, how you responded and what you learned.
Some of life's greatest lessons come from meeting people who view the world from different perspectives and vantage
points. Recount a time when you challenged someone to think differently about an issue or belief, based on your
experiences. How was it received, and what did you learn?
As you look at the world, what is one challenge or problem that you're inspired to solve or that you have already solved?
Why is this issue important to you?

Wheaton is dedicated to empowering students to put new ideas into action and explore new horizons. Please tell us about a

Final Steps
A distinctive feature of the Wheaton community is the Wheaton Honor Code, established in 1921. This system of
self-governance requires not only academic and social integrity but also the responsibility of all community members to uphold
the honor system. The Honor Code states:
As members of the Wheaton community, we commit ourselves to act honestly, responsibly and above all, with honor and
integrity in all areas of campus life. We are accountable for all that we say and write. We are responsible for the academic
integrity of our work. We pledge that we will not misrepresent our work nor give or receive unauthorized aid. We commit
ourselves to behave in a manner that demonstrates concern for the personal dignity, rights and freedoms of all members of the
community. We are respectful of college property and the property of others. We will not tolerate a lack of respect for these
values.
[X] I accept responsibility to maintain the Honor Code at all times. By submitting my application, I acknowledge that I have
read the Wheaton Honor Code and that I have completed my application in adherence with these values.
