Identify triangles, quadrilaterals, pentagons,
hexagons, and cubes.
Objectives: I can locate these four shapes in various
pictures; triangles, squares, rectangles, and
circles.
Assessment Identifying the shapes by coloring with the
: indicated colors on the worksheet.
-Worksheet will then be collected upon
completion.

*10 minutes -We will now locate these shapes on a monster
truck.
-Demonstrate on (ELMO or hold up) how to
locate and trace a shape found on the picture.
-Each group will now be given a Monster Truck
sheet, and dry erase markers (2 per group).
-Teacher will have the students in each group
trace the shapes we learned on the monster
truck picture.
-Teacher will see how many shapes they can
locate.
-Teacher will facilitate each group; promote
deeper thinking and understanding, give shape
key for extra help if needed, ask questions.
(For example: What other shapes are there? Did
you find all of the shapes?)
Close: *(Shapes jumble worksheet, crayons)
YOU DO -Now the students will test what they just
*10 minutes learned on a worksheet.
-Hold up the worksheet to preview to students.
- Teacher will read the directions on the
worksheet; identify each shape by filling in with
the correct color of crayon.
-Hold up crayons.
-Pass out worksheets, one per student with
crayon set.
-Allow students to finish the worksheet in approx.
7 minutes.

Optional Extension:
Human Shapes
-Each group will be asked to create with their
bodies, the four shapes (square, rectangle,
triangle, and circle) we learned in todays lesson.
-Teacher will facilitate each group if and when
needed.
