Dear Search Committee,

I am seeking to apply for a special education resource room position or an elementary general
education position in your school district. I recently completed my year-long internship at David
Scott Elementary in Dewitt, Michigan as part of the five-year teacher preparation program at
Michigan State University. In the fall of 2016, I taught for 15 weeks in Scott Elementarys 3rd and
4th grade resource classroom. In the spring of 2017, I taught for 15 weeks in a 4th grade co-taught
classroom of fifty-five students.

I recently received my Michigan Teaching Certificate. This certificate allows me to teach K-5
Elementary (all subjects), K-12 Learning Disabilities, and grades 6-8 in my teaching major,
English Language Arts. I have successfully completed and passed all of my Michigan Tests of
Teacher Certification (MTTC), including: MTTC-Basic Skills, MTTC-Elementary, MTTC-LD, and
MTTC-ELA. I am currently pursuing Illinois licensure and will attain my license by the start of the
2017-2018 school year. I am currently located in Michigan, but will be relocating this summer to
Illinois.

As a resource room teacher, I can take on multiple roles within the school. I am able to provide

I am prepared to collaborate on a variety of teams within the school including Response to

As a general education teacher, I will meet the needs of all my students. I will incorporate

learning. I am reflective teacher and I work hard at identifying multiple ways to help every child

challenging, but exciting goals that I have for myself, and they speak to my commitment for
personal excellence as a teacher. I seek to encourage greater self-awareness, self-regulation, self-
determination, and confidence in my students.
