I attended the California State Democratic Convention in
Sacramento, April 29-May 1. I attended a redistricting panel as well
as talks by CA Senator Dianne Feinstein and Vermont Senator
Bernie Sanders.
The mood at the convention was pretty upbeat. Most of the rest
of the country delivered Republican victories last November, but
California Democrats bucked the national trend and won 9 of 9
statewide races. Unfortunately Governor Jerry Brown did not
appear due to a minor surgery that weekend.
The two main items of party business at the 2011 convention are
the election of Regional Directors for the Party and the adoption of
resolutions. Regional Directors are state Party officers who represent
