Encino, CA, May 31, 2017 --(PR.com)-- Advanced Sleep Medicine Services, Inc. meets the new
Medicare requirement for accreditation for sleep centers.

Medicare has issued new rules for sleep centers in California, Nevada and Hawaii requiring accreditation
by a national accrediting body effective June 5, 2017. The new rules, only announced in April,
dramatically change the landscape for sleep centers. Many sleep centers are not accredited or may not
meet the accreditation standards, and for new applicants the accreditation process may take months, so
some sleep centers may find they cannot provide services to Medicare beneficiaries when the new rules
take effect.

Advanced Sleep Medicine Services, Inc., the leading provider of sleep testing services and PAP
therapeutic devices in Southern California, is fully accredited and meets all the requirements of the new
rules.

The accreditation process is difficult. Accreditation requires each sleep center to have detailed, adequate
policies and procedures in place for all the important aspects of the facility, including clinical oversight,
handling medical emergencies, confidential treatment of information, equipment maintenance and
calibration, and the information provided to patients. The sleep center must be able to document
compliance with the policies and procedures and show that physician and staff credentials are complete
and current. The sleep center must also have an active, substantial quality improvement program.

The new rules require accreditation by either the Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC), the
American Academy of Sleep Medicine or the Joint Commission. Noridian Healthcare Solutions issued
the new rule in a Local Coverage Determination (LCD) titled Polysomnography and Other Sleep Studies
(L36861).

Sleep apnea is a serious medical condition that affects approximately 20 million Americans - nearly one
out of every 16 people. Sufferers of sleep apnea are unable to achieve restful sleep, no matter how long
they spend in bed. Untreated sleep apnea can lead to serious health conditions such as hypertension, heart
disease, diabetes and stroke.

For over twenty years, Advanced Sleep Medicine Services' (ASMS) has provided diagnostic testing and
sleep therapy devices for sleep disorders, like sleep apnea, and now has more than 20 sleep center
locations across Southern California. Through the website www.sleepdr.com, ASMS provides
educational content for its patients, healthcare providers and those concerned about their sleep health.
