A Baby Girl Called 'Troopie!'
Recently received email from Vivian Latham (NT) with
Roger Latham’s Ministry
Hills will be supporting Roger with the
purchase of a DVD copier
(approximately $2000) that will burn
multiple copies of DVDs of bible
translations in the indigenous language –
using modern technology to impart the
bible to a culture that will respond well to
the verbal/visual format.
Trips to NT
The next teams from Hills Christian Life
Church will be departing mid-June (details
being finalized as we go to print..) for
Katherine to participate, and facilitate
logistics, at the conferences for indigenous
men and women, which will also include
staying at out stations. This will be
followed by the youth conference 6-11 July
at which the ‘No Shame Band’
participated last year. This trip promises to
be a great experience and provides a real
assistance to Rogers ministry and to local
indigenous communities. Training will
commence in the last week of April.

Hi Sondy and ladies who put these wonderful bags
(mums’n’bubs care packs) together,
Every Mum who has received a bag has looked
stunned at such a beautiful gift. A nice little start
for them. This baby was named 'troopie' (for a
few days) as she was born into Mum's shorts in
the back of a troopie (4wheel drive). An interesting
start to life!! Anyway, thought you should see this
nice pic.

When I asked Vivian to let me know when she gets
low on New Mums Packs she wrote back:
Actually we only have a couple of bags left. Please
don't feel pressured into supplying more, it has been
outstanding being able to bless so many Mums, but
you guys down there I'm sure are doing your fair
share of helping out in so many areas, please feel free.

PS please keep Sarah in your prayers as she is
surrounded by dengue in Townsville and doing
outreach in PNG for 6 weeks over April/May. Please
pray for divine protection as a 2nd dose of dengue
can be very bad. Trusting Jesus.
So what do you reckon Hills? Wanna bless more
Mums? I'm for it! As soon as I see an empty pack
available (next missions Sunday – May), I'll be taking
one to fill. The impact is huge! It's a practical gift of
blessing but goes so much further - not only is every
stunned Mum aware of God's (and our) love toward
her, but their relationship with Roger and Vivian is
strengthened too. If you can't afford to do a whole
pack, think about filling one with a friend.
And don't forget to pray for Sarah in April/May.

THANK YOU from the PANTI, BALI March 2009

Dear John Williams,
I am excited about what is happening with the LT (leaders/discipleship team). We will be adding some new young
people to the group who we hope will be able to attend the discipleship camp this year. Then, as I talked to the existing
LT, a couple names were removed when we realized that they would be leaving at the end of the school year. I will try to
catch the five new kids tomorrow to invite them to join us on Friday. The names of the five I will invite tomorrow are:
Rafael, Andrianus, Nando, Puput, and Yesi. Please pray for these young people, that if they are to be part of this group,
they will be eager to join us and grow with us.
We had a really good meeting last Friday as two of the girls opened up about some things they are struggling with –
one in terms of strained relationships with a couple other girls at the home, and the other something that was a
matter of spiritual oppression. You might keep Esther and Nona respectively in your prayers for these matters.

One thing I have been trying to stress with the LT is to begin to see their own sphere of influence as being an
opportunity for ministry. For example, the six Student Staff for the Computer Lab have been encouraged to pray for
the kids who come through the lab during their shift. Not necessarily to pray with them, but to pray for them. So far,
most of them forget to do this. They have, however, begun to make it a regular point of prayer to lift up one of the
boys who has been giving them and other staff a lot of trouble. Several of the LT members reported back that they
had begun to see an improvement in this boy’s attitude. I’m encouraging them to keep on praying…and to pray for
Father to give them His heart of love for this boy. I look forward to seeing what happens this next week.

have been a blessing to Bethel Children’s home.

Local Missions
volunt Rapture Café is one way Hills Christian Life
Church has a visible presence in our local
community. Mike and Janelle and their team
have used this format to connect and minister
to their clientele, with an impressive number of
repeat customers (the foods pretty good too!)
Janelle has just hosted, along with Jess
Sanders, the first of the Cultiv8 sessions which
was well attended – all non Hills people.
Future nights are booking well. Mike is also
planning other outreach and information
events. The first one (date to be advised, in
April) will be about highlighting the child
soldiers in Africa. Make no mistake, this is a
mission field and deserves our support, as
volunteers, customers and in prayer.
Local missions come in many disguises and the
recent bushfires in Victoria created just such a
occasion. There would not be many of our Hills
church family that were either not personally
effected, or known someone who was. The
devastation and impact have been well
documented, as has the outpouring of support
from near and far. This was one of the instances
when being Australian meant a show of the
strength of unity in the face of adversity. Ongoing
support and prayer will be required. As followers
of Christ, we also should activate our corporate
faith and prayers to move mountains (for
salvations, healings and other miracles). On a
personal level, John Williams would like to
acknowledge and thank all those who offered him
the covering of their prayer support as he met with
many of the survivors in Whittlesea, Flowerdale,
Healesville and Wandong after the fires. It was so
valued and necessary!
