Capitalizing on a quick transition, sophomore midfield-attack hybrid Alexandra Ducas pivots her

hips towards her teammates to look for the open pass. Ducas was the only player to make the
varsity roster her freshman year and was a key player, earning herself a starting position, her
sophomore year. When asked if she planned to continue her career at the collegiate level
Ducas stated, I can't imagine not playing lacrosse, it's such a big part of my life.
In the middle of a timeout, varsity girls lacrosse coach KC White brings her attention over to her
players to hear their take on the game. White coached the girls lacrosse team for seven years,
ending her reign after the 2017 season. The team is my family and giving up coaching is
something I never wanted to do, said White regarding her last year in the position.
Carrying the ball up the field, Freshman Mia Razavi protects her stick in order to prevent the
Kent Roosevelt defender from checking the ball out of her possession. Razavi was one of the
only two freshman to make the varsity roster and started all 24 games during the 2017 season.
Razavi exclaimed, I did not expect to play as much as I did however, the confidence I built in
those games helped me to secure a starting position.
After receiving a penalty in her favor, junior midfielder Catharine Beg sights the goal in hopes to
gather enough momentum to brush past the Cleveland Heights defenders. The Chagrin tigers
met the Heights tigers three times during the regular season and bested them two out of the
three times.
Taking advantage of her pristine stick work skills, junior starting defenseman Isabelle Beg forces
the Cleveland Heights attackman to switch to her weaker left hand. Beg began playing defense
in high school after her talents were identified at the beginning of her freshman year.
Weaving her way to a safe space, senior attack-middie hybrid Alison Mazzola jukes out of a
double team to breakaway from two solid Medina defenseman. Mazzola lettered all four years of
her high school career talling in four First Team All-Ohio awards and one prestigious
All-American award.
In triple threat position, senior Morgan Walker prepares to stop the opposing Medina attackman
from securing a clear path to goal. The entire team utilized the phrase get big to guide their
player behavior any time a penalty was called. Walker stated, I always reach my arms as high
as possible to take away any potential passing lane while defending.
As the whistle blows, senior center Alison Mazzola catapults off of the draw circle in order to
gain possession for her team. Mazzola started at the draw circle for 18 out of the 24 games in
the women's varsity lacrosse season and signed to continue her lacrosse career at the
University of Cincinnati.
With eager eyes, freshman Mia Razavi sights her fellow teammates for looking for help down
the field. The transition was a huge part of the success of the women's lacrosse team and
allowed them to advance to the Division Two State Championship. Throughout every practice
we were constantly reminded to keep our heads up, our coaches always preach the fact
passing the ball is faster than running it, stated Razavi.
With immense power, senior midfielder Camille Concannon splits past her medina defender to
utilize a fast break to her advantage. Concannon was the fastest member of the women's
lacrosse team and tallied 18 goals off of her tremendous ability to beat every defender on the
field.
