Instrumentation & Controls Engineer

Rotterdam, NL | Permanent Appointment

Scope:
Providing technical support to our operating facilities across the northern European regions, working on execution of
productivity projects or product development and taking responsibility for all aspects of control and instrument
engineering.

Responsibilities:
Participation in P&ID development
Develop and maintain project instrument databases utilising INTools
Specification of process control equipment including control valves, flow measurement devices, process
instrumentation.
Significant emphasis on design, specification and configuration of control systems including PLC, SCADA & DCS
systems.
Experience in programming DCS & PLC's (ABB, Siemens PCS7, WinCC, Step 5 and Step 7 PLC) would be an
advantage.
Providing a primary point of contact for all PICS technical questions.
Collaborating with global subject matter experts and technical leads.
Design / installation / commissioning / operation / maintenance
Inspect / qualify / validate analytical methods and systems.
Understand and ensure regulatory compliance in the countries we operate and that company standards are
followed and assist with review of relevant standards.
Provide "hands-on" plant assistance as necessary throughout region for problem resolution, commissioning
activities, etc.
To audit plants as necessary.
To handle equipment obsolescence.
Inspection
Fault Finding
Site acceptance testing
Support plants and at times the maintenance teams on maintenance shutdowns.

Travel is to be expected to sites within northern Europe in order to respond to any major occurrence of plant
breakdown where control & instrumentation expertise is required. Repair and re-commission affected plant and
equipment to assure a minimum loss of production.

Knowledge/Experience:
Demonstrate a deep understanding of the design and implementation of C&I systems.
Considerable experience gained working in an engineering design or operating organisation.
Practical site experience with experience of FAT, SAT, Fault Finding Pre-commissioning and commissioning
Third Party contractor supervision
Prior knowledge and/or hands on experience with specifying and commissioning shut down systems
Have good communication skills enabling you to work well within the multi-disciplined design team and to
liaise directly with site personnel.

Qualifications:
Engineering Degree (Chemical, Mechanical or C&I) or and equivalent related subject .
