Comments:
A note about marking: We determined that there was a high degree of
plagiarism in this essay (verbatim copying of entire passages represented
as your work ). Per School protocol, we are therefore marking only the
sections that clearly represent your own intellectual contributionin other
words, we are not scoring any content that clearly originated elsewhere or
was written by someone else.

Abstract: This is a concise statement of your topic and what you hope to
achieve with the outreach event. Generally well-written, could benefit
from including some specifics about the event itself (what sorts of
activities are you using to communicate the work on bilingualism to
families, etc).

B&S: A great deal of this was copied directly from other sources, therefore
earning low marks for this section. The material that you copied was
relevant, and I can see how it pertains to the overall topic, but
unfortunately we cannot include this in your overall assessment. The
statement about the attentional resources in bilinguals appears to be your
ownand its good! So please be sure in future work to always express all
ideas in your own words. In addition to misrepresenting work as your own,
direct copying like this minimizes your ability to demonstrate what is
original and unique about your thinking.

Specific aims: The first paragraph (summarizing the ideas of Grosjean)

was directly copied and cannot be assessed. The activity itself seems
fairly dyadic, presenting families at nurseries with research on
bilingualism and following this up with a group discussion. It would be
important to consider how you will communicate this knowledge without
appearing judgmental about how parents have handled the issue of
language learning in their families. Good suggestion about using a
questionnaire to capture attitudes about bilingualismcan you give a
sense of what sorts of items you might include to capture whether your
event has changed parental perceptions about bilingualism? Finally dont
forget to make the relevance to families in the area more explicitis
bilingualism an issue that many families in Fife/Tayside would encounter,
either because of their own composition & experiences, or because of
educational policies in schools?
