Canada claims to be one of the top
countries for its Human Rights, including
Gender Equality. Canada still has a long way
to go to be a country that is considered
equal in the aspect of both genders. Gender
equality is not men getting paid 27% more
on average in the workforce. Gender
equality is not saying that dishes,
housekeeping, cooking and looking after the
kids is womens work. Women and men
deserve to be treated equally in their daily
lives.

ethnic origin, colour, religion, sex, age or
mental or physical disability. This doesnt
only apply to issues dealing with the law, it
includes discrimination and other
characteristics.
Phrases such as you throw like a girl,
you run like a girl etc are seen as offensive
and derogatory towards men, but have you
thought about the effect that it must have on
a female? Using you run like a girl as an
insult; making it seem like women are
weaker than men are is extremely
degrading, based on basic traits.

If Canada thought that women were

treated equally, why would we still have
International Womens Day? Why would
there still be campaigns in place like this
one?

Equality Rights are the rights that

establish all citizens are to be treated fairly
no matter their gender, age, race, or sexual
orientation. So how come in Canada women
are still getting paid less than men are? How
come a vast majority of the female
population dont even know that they legally
dont have to wear a top if they dont want
