Application Activities, Instructor Guidelines, and Expected Outcomes

Application 1: Go to one of the following URLs, www.skmtglossary.org or

https://www.ctnbestpractices.org/standards-inventory and list three standards you think
you might need to use in your work. Discuss why for each standard you select. Also
discuss how easy or difficult to navigate the space.

Expected Outcomes for Application 1: There are many solutions to this assignment.
The goal is to get the student to explore a website looking for standards and to explain
why the standard would be useful in a specific work area.

Application 2: Make a matrix for standards that might be used in a regional network and
identify a potential source for each standard.

Expected Outcomes for Application 2: There are many solutions to this assignment. For
a regional network, you would need a messaging standard, perhaps v2 or v3, maybe
DCA from HL7 or CCR from ASTM; imaging standards from DICOM, and/or prescribing
standards from NCPDP.
