International Battery is a pioneer in the industry as it is the first domestic

developer and manufacturer of true large-format lithium-ion battery
cells in the United States. By using a water-based process, it is also the
greenest battery manufacturer. The company was founded in 2004 and
its headquarters and manufacturing facility are located in Allentown, PA.

Manufacturing
The company’s 93,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility
has been producing cells and shipping commercially
since 2008. Highlights include:

Green & Sustainable

Production
International Battery has the greenest manufac-
turing process in the lithium cell industry with a
unique water based process. Advantages include:

compound (VOC) emissions
• Elimination of millions of gallons of NMP
• 10% reduction in factory capital requirements
• 10% reduction in operating costs
Our process is chemistry agnostic and can
accommodate new cathode and anode chemistries.

System Advantages
The use of large-format cells results in a simpler, more
reliable and more efficient system design. Fewer cells,
battery connections and less complexity all result in
higher reliability and greater system energy density.

 Cells & Safety
Cells range in size from 40Ah to 200Ah and have 10x more energy
capacity than competing large-format cells. Current chemistries
include licensed Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) and Nickel
Cobalt Manganese (NCM) while multiple new chemistries
are in development.
Cells are designed and tested for the highest level of safety.
In early 2010, cells passed all the tests (overcharge, short
circuit, shock, vibration, crush, etc.) to achieve UN3480
transportation certification. Through its work with the US Army,
cells and modules have been subjected to and passed
rigorous mil-spec tests.

Battery Packs and Battery

Management Systems (BMS)
International Battery designs and manufactures complete battery
packs with BMS. Both standardized modules and customized solutions
are available.
Our BMS maximizes safety, life and performance. It facilitates system
integration and enables an intelligent battery module rich with standard
and customizable features. The BMS also provides full diagnostics
capability, state of health and the ability to communicate via CAN-BUS,
RS-232/485, Ethernet or Zigbee.

Through its systems engineering design capabilities and experience,
enclosure and inverter partners, International Battery is able to provide
complete energy storage and power conditioning systems.
