trances; which determine life-duration; which cause origination, duration, decay,
and extinction; and which impart significance to words, sentences, and sounds.
5) Consciousness (vijna) 1 dharma
1 dharma The subjective/receptive aspect of consciousness (as opposed to the objective/content
the receptive aspect). Pure, undifferentiated consciousness or sensation without content. (However,
faculty of the note that ADK II, 23 says that citta [= vijna = manas, acc. ADK II, 34] is always
mind accompanied by some caitta (most importantly, the first 3: vedan, saj, cetan).
Inlcudes 7 aspects or dhtu: the mental faculty (manas, the 6th indriya), and the
6 sense-consciousnesses (vijna).
