ABSTRACT

PT. Berau Coal is one of Indonesian coal mining companies which operated
at Berau District, East Borneo. Coal mining system that applied by PT.Berau Coal is
open pit mining. Through this system, coal in the bowels of the eart taken by
stripping material in above of the ground coal. The materials are soil (top soil and
subsoil) and overburden that then transfered to the specific area. Existing overburden
material at PT. Berau Coal is PAF (Potential Acid Forming) type which cause make
acid mine drainage appear if get oxidation process, so soil fertility stability become
distrubed, so that reclamation and revegetation could be hampered.
Biostrimulation technology is the technology that use of nutrients to push
microbial do biodegradation. This study aims to 1) determine the level of
effectiveness by biostimulation technology to repair chemical and biological
properties of the soil (overburden) on post mining land coal, 2) determine the
effectiveness of biostimulation technology on plant growth that seen from height and
stem diameters plant. The method used is survey method, laboratory analysis,
descriptive and statistical analysis. The sampling technique is systematic sampling
technique.
Biostimulation technology can repair the soil fertility level. It evident in the
control plot trial, there is no change of chemical and biological properties both after
and before treatment. From the analysis test result of soil chemical properties with
ANOVA test on SPSS, biostimulant treatment that had the best treatment is the third
dose by giving biostimulant A = 40 g, biostimulant B = 200 g, biostimulant C = 20 g
and the test result of soil biological properties, biostimulant treatment that had the
best treatment is the first dose by giving biostimulant A = 160 g, biostimulant B =
800 g, biostimulant C = 80 g. Increase of pH values happen in the third month after
treatment , so the exact time is in the third month. The plants are Kayu Putihs tree
(Melalevca Levcandendra), Johars tree (Cassia Siamelamk) and Sengon Lauts tree
(Paraserianthes Falcataria). The most plant grow well is Kayu Putihs tree (Melalevca
Levcandendra).
