Sheikh / Ibrahim AI-Duaij AI-Sabah

General Director
Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources
{In the name of Allah most gracious most merciful)
Kuwait represented by the Public Authority for
-- , Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources hosts this
scientific seminar on camels and the convening of
this seminar comes at a time of ignoring this animal
and the role it may play in achieving food security.
In the history, we find that the Arabs had looked after this animal
breeding thousands of years ago that it has become an aid to man
and he couldn't live without it especially in the countries with hot
deserts and arid steppe in the Arabian Peninsula, North Africa and
Southwest Asia.
They had used it in the movement of their trade and called it
The Ship of the Desert , also used it beside the horses in the
transfer of their armies in their Islamic conquests .
Camel was the means used by the Bedouins in the dissemination
of palm cultivation in the Middle East countries from the Arabian
Gulf to the Atlantic Ocean and as a result camel occupies a niche
in the lives of Arabs ,in their poetry , habits and traditions and was
until recently plays an important role as an animal for transport
and as a producer of meat and milk, but now unfortunately we find
that the camel ranks less and seen often with disdain that he has
no future in modern farming communities, although he takes little
,gives a lot .
In the conclusion, we warmly welcome the distinguished
guests of the seminar at their second home Kuwait and wish them
a pleasant stay and success in order that this seminar will be a
pioneering experiment in the study of the animal on the best
scientific methods to protect it and then use it for the benefit of
humanity, it may be a pretty picture for the safe future in all our
needs of food, clothing and fun.
