Summary of Major Accomplishments

Assigned as Project Manager/Developer for the NCDOT INRIX Data application. Using INRIX Speed data
(Oracle 11g Database) developed an Access/Excel application to query the Oracle database and provide in-
depth analysis (Statistics and graphs) for use by the states Traffic Engineering unit. This project required
moving a large portion over to SQLServer as well.

Assigned as Project Manager/Developer for several major and minor projects with UNC-HSRC and NCSU-
ITRE, including the Datamap project. Responsible for mapping legacy mainframe Crash Report variables to
new system (Oracle) locations, as well as checking integrity of conversion. Lead Web Developer and DBA for
numerous projects.

Built several MySQL, MSSQL, Access, and Oracle databases, extracting data from the Traffic Engineering
Accident Analysis System (TEAAS) database via ODBC and custom programs. Created dynamic Web Applications
(Cold Fusion, htmSql) to query databases and update data.

Lead Programmer and DBA in the creation of the Pedestrian expert system and the Bicyclist expert system.

Lead Programmer and DBA in the creation of the USA Walk to School Day web applications.

Lead Programmer and DBA in the creation of the Interactive North Carolina Bicycle & Pedestrian Crash Data Tool.
2000 NCDOT Continuous Process Improvement Award Winner for Internal Customer Service. Ranked in the top
three statewide for development and implementation of the Traffic Engineering and Accident Analysis System
software training program, as well as development and implementation of the Crash Analysis training program.

1999 NCDOT Continuous Process Improvement Award Winner for Cycle Time Reduction. Overall best in
category for design, development and implementation of the Traffic Safety Systems Management Unit - North
Carolina Highway
Patrol Fatal Slip database. With over 1,500 fatalities occurring per year, an estimated 100 man-hours per year have
been saved in this process improvement.

Created a contingency crash analysis database known as the Traffic Engineering Crash Analysis Database (TECAD),
utilizing Microsoft Access, Visual Basic, and Oracle. The TECAD was capable of reproducing the analysis that had been
generated for the past 20 years by the MERGE Accident Analysis System. The TECAD was to be used in the event that
the new Crash Analysis system (TEAAS) was not completed by January 1, 2000. The TECAD would have allowed the
TSSMU staff to continue day-to-day crash analysis operations. The TEAAS developers modeled their system GUIs after
those in the TECAD.

Developed all course material for the TEAAS software training class as well as the Crash Analysis class. The TEAAS
class has been certified for 6 Professional Development Hours and the Crash Analysis class has been certified for 10
Professional Development Hours.
