The Bud to Life

Marijuana is a cannabis, also called weed, pot, bud, M.J (Mary Jane), herb, and ganja.

People use it by either smoking it in a hand rolled cigarettes called joints, blunts, bongs, edibles

and so on. The greenish-gray mixture of the dried, shredded leaves and flowers of Cannabis

sativa that make up what is called weed. M.J. has THC which is the cause for the effects on

ones body and mind such as a persons memory, pleasure movements, and thinking. The feeling

that some describe that they get while being as what is called being high is they can get giggly,

hungry and tired. People have been talking about marijuana and the use of medical marijuana

for years. Marijuana has been a very talked about issue among people because some agree and or

disagree on the use and how one has chosen to use the herb. Some in Colorado talk about an

issue about how after marijuana was passed to be legal the suicide rates went up and had found

medical marijuana in the systems of those in their younger years of those who attempted and

accomplished suicide. So according to those hearing about the suicides occurring in Colorado

blamed the medical marijuana for the reasoning behind the deaths. The use of medical marijuana

laws made it so if anyone at the legal age had possession or using removed the illegal penalties

of going to jail and other penalties. In the autobiography Malcolm x, Malcolm in his younger

years use to use a large amount of marijuana. Even while he was in jail in he would get drugs

smuggled to him. He had believed that one should die a violent death and marijuana was one of

the vicious drugs he had chosen to use in a big portion for a long period of time.
 Marijuana has been used for thousands of years as a medical source. Even though

marijuana has helped patients out people still saw it as a controversial subject because of the

effect it was having on people who did not need it medically. Those that were using medical

marijuana would be legally getting in trouble for using what in some states is still illegal, when

considering to some people it is not a vicious crime to where they should have to be punished

compared to all the other laws that would get people in trouble. Marijuana was used in

medications since back in 1890 until The controlled substances act of 1970 was passed due to

how college students and those into the herbal scene, after this act was passed it was banned

from even medical use. People everywhere regardless of the time period was always having a

debate on marijuana and the use of it being either good or bad. Some people just would not

understand why people would use marijuana in the first place even if it was for medical

reasoning. It was believed that those who were to use marijuana were just using it for the fact of

getting high. Another concept that was talked about was having toxic side effects due to how

the government allowed Mexico to spray their crops of weed. Thus making Colombia the

growers of the herb. At the time trying to smuggle the herb was hard because of how it was not

allowed past the southern borders, which then started the war on drugs. California was one

who did not have to worry due to them being the first to not accept the legalization of marijuana.

Fast forwarding to todays society some still see it as a hazardous drug to those who use it, which

is a large group. It has been shown that the marijuana is stronger now than it has been in the past

time. The use of abusing this drug is said to have a greater chance of mental effects if being used

for a long period of time. Realizing this herb is not going away anytime soon made people want

to learn the damages created by the use of this herb, so researchers started trying to see what

effects the use of medical marijuana could do to a person especially if over used.
 Now that marijuana is passed to be legal in California there are a lot of rules going along

with the passing of the proposition. Although it is said that state officials think it could well over

take up to a year to develop the rules that will be applied to those who grow, transport, test and

sell cannabis. Just because marijuana is legalized does not mean anyone can own or buy the herb.

To be able to by the herb you have to be the same drinking age of 21 to be able to purchase it

legally from a licensed shop or to be allowed to grow it yourself. One of the rules that comes

with the legalization of marijuana is that people cannot just smoke weed where they please in

public. The users are not to be allowed using the substance while operating any means of

transportation, also the herb would be packed in a way that should not allow any child to access

it.

Although the concept of marijuana is not new, the concept of it now being legalized in

more states is upsetting and good for the people. The position I take on marijuana is that I

believe that it should be legal due to the fact that is actually does help those in need of it. I

myself am not a user of it and I do not need to be to understand the importance of it and how it

could help others. If people choose to abuse the herb that is on them and are taking advantage of

why marijuana was grown and legalized in some states. I learned a lot more about the herb and

could understand why a person might use it without it being a medical reason due to the fact that

it might have calmed them done in a matter of stress allowing them to group themselves

together. I have never really been against the herb although I thought it was a waste to people to

use it just for the matter of being high and not understanding why someone who has not real

use to it would want to feel that way. From the understanding I got was that people have just not

been okay with it from the start because they think that just because it has an effect on you that it

is a toxic effect. Some people do not want to choose to realize that marijuana can actually help
those with issues such as anxiety, depression, insomnia and so for. Marijuana has been around

for decades for the fact of helping someone in need, if some teenagers want to abuse the fact that

it is not legal to have for medical reasoning that is on them. I do not get how some choose to

ignore the fact and not want to accept the use of marijuana and all the great things it could do for

those in need due to how the abuse of teenagers and young adults have made it be portrayed after

years of use to just have the feeling of being high. So people are going to continue to be on

opposing sides of what marijuana showed be and whether it should be allowed to be legal to use.
