Only one prepared posterior tooth will be filled up with Dental Amalgam. The other
prepared posterior tooth will remain unfilled. Teeth to be prepared and filled will be
indicated before the start of the examination.

Example only:
Prepare a Class II cavity preparation on the Mesio - Occlusal surface of Tooth
No. 27.
Prepare and fill up the Disto - Occlusal surface of Tooth No. 36 with Dental
Amalgam.

B. FIXED PARTIAL DENTURE EXAMINATION 10:00 AM 12:00 NN

Note: Phantom Heads are allowed only on a supine position

Preparation of two abutments for the reception of a Porcelain Fused to Metal Fixed Partial
Denture.

***Knock down up to the gingival level the typodont in between the abutments.

Example only:
Knock down Tooth No. 16 and prepare Teeth Nos. 17 and 15 to receive a
Three Units Porcelain Fused to Metal Fixed Partial Denture.

C. REMOVABLE PARTIAL DENTURE DESIGN EXAMINATION 1:00 PM 4:00 PM

1. Bring your own maxillary and mandibular casts (dental stone) taken from a live
patient with a full complement of teeth (full dentition). Properly based and trimmed.
2. Knock down the missing teeth on the master cast to be indicated before the start of
the examination. Round off and smoothen properly the edentulous areas.
3. Using a surveyor, survey the possible abutment teeth. Place tripod marks on the
cast.
4. Design a Bilateral One Piece Casting Removable Partial Denture on the Master
Cast.
5. Transfer Design on the top answer sheet (one answer sheet only).
6. Make Laboratory Prescription (Work Authorization) on the top answer sheet (one
answer sheet only).
7. Do wax pattern for a one-piece bilateral RPD ready for casting but without sprue.
Prefabricated wax patterns are strictly not allowed.

Example only:
Survey the abutment teeth and make the most appropriate Design of a Bilateral One Piece
Casting Removable Partial Denture on the cast with the following missing teeth: 46, 42, 41, 31, 32,
33 and 34. Transfer design and write down the Laboratory Prescription (Work Authorization) on the
top answer sheet only. Fabricate the wax pattern on the master cast.

DAY 2

D. COMPLETE DENTURE EXAMINATION 8:00 AM 4:00 PM

REMINDER: Follow the procedure properly

1. Perform Diagnosis
- Fill-up completely the provided patients chart

2. Make Preliminary Impression

- Use edentulous stock trays only
- Proper handling and manipulation of the preliminary impression material
- Capture the denture bearing areas needed for fabrication of individual trays
- Using the preliminary impression, pour plaster of paris to fabricate the diagnostic
casts

3. Fabricate Diagnostic Casts

- Produce an accurate and porous free diagnostic casts (plaster of paris)
- Red Denture base
- Blue Individual Tray
- Determine the proper extent of the trial denture bases and individual trays
- Proper blocking - out of the diagnostic casts depending on the anatomy of the
denture bearing areas, consistency of mucosa and final impression principle to be
utilized

4. Fabricate Individual Trays

- Fabricate properly formed and extended maxillary and mandibular individual trays
- Design individual trays depending on the final impression principle to be utilized
Note: Use of Shellac Base Plates, Self Cured or Visible Light Cured Resins are allowed.
For Shellac Base Plates present to proctor for seal and/ or signature before starting.
For Self Cured or Visible Light Cured Resins -present to proctor for signature before
trimming.

5. Make Final Impressions

- Select the final impression material depending on the quality of the denture bearing
areas, consistency of mucosa and final impression principle to be utilized
- Proper handling and manipulation of the final impression material
- Make distorted-free impressions that will accurately capture the surface details,
denture bearing areas and the physiologic action of the limiting anatomic structures
- Strictly observe infection control protocol
- Using the final impression, pour dental stone to fabricate the master casts

6. Fabricate Master Casts

- Produce master casts with minimal defects and voids, properly trimmed with
adequate base
- Duplicate the anatomical structures accurately
- Preserve peripheral borders
- Determine the proper extent of the trial denture bases
- Prepare master casts for the fabrication of trial denture bases, evaluation of arch
forms and use it as a guide in setting the artificial teeth

7. Fabricate Trial Denture Bases (use shellac base plates only) and Occlusion Rims
- Fabricate Trial Denture Bases that fit accurately, rigid, stable and allow freedom of
lip and muscle movements
- Fabricate occlusion rims with proper length, height and width.
- Locate vibrating line phonetically and transfer to master casts and perform proper
beading
Note: Use of Shellac Base Plates, Self Cured or Visible Light Cured Resins are allowed.
For Shellac Base Plates present to proctor for seal and/ or signature before starting.
For Self Cured or Visible Light Cured Resins - present to proctor for signature before
trimming.

8. Establish Maxillomandibular Relationships
- Establish vertical relations Vertical Relation at Rest (VRR), Vertical Relation of
Occlusion (VRO) and Inter-Occlusal Distance (IOD)
- Establish horizontal relation
- Record the centric jaw relation

9. Mount on the Articulator (Semi-Adjustable or Non-Adjustable Articulators can be used).

10. Set Artificial Teeth

- Demonstrate rationale for tooth selection
- Determine the need to recontour and modify selected teeth to achieve desired
results
- Consider functional and biological factors in setting artificial teeth

11. Perform Gingival Wax-up (Festooning)

- Simulate the natural characteristics of the tissue around the teeth in the wax denture

12. Perform Denture Try-in

- Fabricate dentures that will:
be functional (at centric, lateral and protrusive movements)
allow the patient to speak normally (restore phonetics)
complement the overall patient's looks (esthetically acceptable)
will not abuse the tissues over the residual ridges (biologically acceptable)
